This Privacy Policy explains how BarQuest ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, protects, and shares your personal information when you use our mobile application, BarQuest (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

1. Information We Collect

• Information You Provide Directly:
  • Account Information: When you register for an account, we collect your email address and username. This information is used to create and manage your BarQuest account and send account-related notifications (e.g., verification, password reset).
  • Feedback & Support: If you contact us, we collect your email address and the content of your message to respond and provide support.
• Information Collected Automatically:
  • Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics to collect aggregated, anonymized data about how users interact with the App (e.g., screens viewed, performance). This data is not linked to your identity.
  • Gameplay Data: We collect gameplay progress, including:
    • Bar route selections
    • Check-in times and approximate locations (only when explicitly permitted)
    • Task completion and points earned
    • Leaderboard rankings
    • Group progress in active sessions
  • Technical Information: We may collect device type, OS version, and app version to improve performance and stability.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide core functionality of the BarQuest App.
• To maintain and improve gameplay features and user experience.
• To ensure account security and prevent unauthorized use.
• To comply with legal obligations.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

• Service Providers: We use Firebase (Google LLC) for hosting, authentication, analytics, and database management. Data is processed under Google’s privacy terms and GDPR-compliant agreements.
• Other Players: During gameplay, your display name, progress, and points may be visible to other participants in your active session and on leaderboards.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety and rights of others.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your account and gameplay data only while your account remains active. When you delete your account, all associated personal data is permanently deleted from our systems immediately. This includes your user profile, quest history, progress, and any personal identifiers stored in Firebase.

Some anonymized and aggregated analytics data (which cannot identify you) may be retained for statistical purposes to improve the App.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard security practices, including:

• Firebase Authentication for secure login
• Firestore security rules for data access control
• HTTPS/SSL encryption for all traffic
• Firebase App Check for request validation

While we strive to protect your information, no online service is fully secure. We cannot guarantee absolute protection against unauthorized access or data loss.

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the EU or EEA, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Access: Request a copy of your data.
• Rectification: Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data. When you delete your account, your personal data is automatically and permanently deleted immediately.
• Restriction: Request limited processing under certain conditions.
• Portability: Receive your data in a structured format.
• Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent for processing at any time.

7. Children’s Privacy

The BarQuest App is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Updates take effect when posted on this page. If changes are significant, we may notify you via the App or email.
